VoicePort Brings Real-Time Web Transactions to New York Daily News subscribers

Pittsford, NY May 17, 2007.  New York's #1 newspaper deploys WebPortTM online subscription services to allow subscribers to manage their subscriptions online.  Long-time CircPortTM speech IVR user, the New York Daily News, recently deployed WebPort, the online circulation component of CircPort for their subscribers. The WebPort application is able to use existing database connections to support real-time online transactions, since CircPort already integrates with the Daily News Discus circulation database, giving customers another way to start new subscriptions and manage their existing accounts online.

WebPort provides all of the CircPort circulation services used by the Daily News website. Services include reporting a delivery problem, placing a vacation hold, making a payment or checking account status, and starting a new subscription. Although some newspapers state that they take subscriptions online, many simply collect subscriber data for input by an agent during normal business hours.

"The WebPort deployment coincided with the launch of our new website, further enhancing our new online customer experience," said Mike Patten, VP-Circulation Marketing, for the Daily News. "WebPort is an added way for our subscribers to get easy access to the information they need, anytime, anywhere."

"WebPort makes it easy for our newspaper customers to add subscriber services to their existing website," said Kevin Cawley, Director of North American Sales at VoicePort. "The additional automation helps further improve efficiencies, and allows subscribers to manage their accounts how they want, when they want."
